The Sokolis Group, a leading fuel consulting firm wants to motivate the transportation sector into a carbon offsetting neutral industry by offsetting or reducing GHG emissions.
Carbon offsetting is a way of compensating for the harmful emissions produced and released into the atmosphere with an equivalent carbon dioxide savings.
The process of carbon offsetting involves two stops: calculating fuel consumption and the carbon footprint followed by purchasing carbon offsetting credits from emissions reduction projects that are preventing or removing an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere.
Your fuel planning and fuel buying involve a lot of time, this takes just a little effort or our fleet fuel management team can help.
How we do it?
We decided that the follow additional criteria were important to us:
What have we gained?
What can happen if everyone follows?
We have the ability to reduce the effects of global warming by releasing less and carbon offsetting more carbon dioxide. This is a global issue which requires attention from environmentally conscious individuals and businesses alike doing their part in reducing their respective levels of CO2 emissions and carbon footprint.
We're All In This Together!
We take our commitment to the environment to hear as one of the core values of our fuel management company.
This means making decisions in the way we do business to have a positive impact for the health of our planet and local communities.
Together, we can make the world greener, healthier and a happier place.
Conserve fleet fuel, use cleaner burning gas and diesel fuel along with using alternative fleet fuel such as bio fuels.
Our fuel consulting staff can help.
At Sokolis Group, fuel management & fuel consulting on alternative fuel is important to us.
We believe that bio fuels have their place in alternative fleet fuel supply chain.
What are Bio fuels?
Bio fuels is the name of a clean burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources.
Bio diesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with diesel fuel to create a bio diesel blend. It can be used in compression-ignition (diesel) engines with little or no modifications.
Bio diesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics.
Why should I use biodiesel?
Biodiesel is better for the environment because it is made from renewable resources and has lower emissions compared to petroleum diesel fuel.
It is less toxic than table salt and biodegrades as fast as sugar. Since it is made in the USA from renewable fuel resources such as soybeans, its use decreases our dependence on foreign fuel and contributes to our own economy.
Bio Fuels Offer Many Advantages:
Sokolis Group’s fuel management team can help your company review bio diesel, bio fuels, gas and other alternative fleet fuel as part of our fuel management program.
Diesel Exhaust Fluid - DEF (Urea)
As your fuel management company, our goal is to stay ahead of the latest information in the fleet fuel world.
One of the newest topics is diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) is an operating fluid for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, which will be in new heavy duty commercial vehicles from 2010.
DEF is not a fuel or fleet fuel additive; it is injected into the exhaust system to chemically reduce NOx emissions from diesel powered vehicles.
This is a good thing for cleaner air and a lower carbon footprint.
DEF is a high-purity urea solution complying with the Standards of ISO 22241.
This is the highest quality and safety standard in place which ensures the correct functioning of Selective Catalytic Reduction equipment.
Sokolis Group fuel consultants will make sure that your DEF supplier providers the best product and service for your fleet management.
Most engine manufacturers chose SCR over competing technologies due to the fuel economy benefits of SCR as compared with other options.
SCR is expected to improve overall fuel economy by approximately 5%.
With increased fleet fuel economy and selective fleet fuel consulting, your fuel planning and fuel management program are sure to be a winner with Sokolis Group.
What is a carbon footprint?
As your fleet fuel consultant we help our clients determine what they can do to lower their carbon footprint.
Your carbon footprint is the direct effect your actions and lifestyle have on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide emissions.
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide.
Actions and activities creating carbon and other green house gasses contribute to accelerating global warming and climate change using gas for your cars or diesel fuel for your fleet fuel usage add to your carbon footprint.
Everyone has a responsibility to the world we live in now and the world we leave future generations.
Reducing our emissions is obviously important in slowing or even reversing climate change — but with world economies booming our carbon emissions are on the rise.
CO2 is the largest component of Green House Gasses, accounting for more than 82% of the US Green House Gasses in 2006, and the Transportation sector with diesel fuel and gas burning fleet accounts for more than 34% of CO2 emissions.
Therefore, it is our goal at Sokolis Group in fuel consulting individuals and fleet fuel planning about how to specifically reduce transportation fuel emissions, since the fuel supply chain and transportation is our core business.
Controlling your fleet fuel usage in gas and diesel fuel through a solid fuel management program can help.
Climate Change
Climate change is a significant shift in temperature and weather patterns around the world.
While some changes are normal, the vast majority of scientists agree that our activities are causing dramatic changes to the Earth’s climate.
Over the last three hundred years we have radically increased our use of energy sources like oil, fuel, coal, gas, diesel fuel and natural gas.
Burning any of these fuel releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
A little bit of carbon dioxide is a good thing – it keeps the planet warm and habitable.
Now, however, we are putting so much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that the planet is getting too warm.
This problem is also called the greenhouse effect.
Effects
The effects of climate change are already visible – melting glaciers, the migration of plant and animal species, and an increase in severe storms, to name a few.
Did fleet fuel cause all this?
What will happen next?
No one can say for sure, but here are some possibilities:
Carbon Offsets
Carbon offset means “neutralize, “balance, or “cancel out.
When we do certain activities like drive, fly or heat our homes we emit carbon dioxide.
Carbon offsets counteract these activities by funding projects that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
When you buy a carbon offsets, therefore, you are helping to fund a project that reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
Carbon offsets are an easy and affordable way to compensate for our contribution to climate change.
They are a critical piece of the fuel technologies and fleet fuel programs that make a difference today.
Even though engine manufactures and the use of alternative fuels have worked to decrease emissions, the overall correlation between miles traveled and CO2 emissions is still very strong even today.
The bottom line is the more miles traveled, the more emissions from gas and diesel fuel usage. It is critical for individuals, companies, and particularly fleets to reduce empty and unnecessary miles traveled based on the environmental and financial costs.
Sokolis Group will help you to reduce out of route miles, increase asset and driver utilization, improve and track miles per gallon and revenue per mile, and capitalize on funding available for these initiatives through government and private grants.
Our fuel consulting services go beyond the price of fuel, we go deep into your fuel planning and fuel management programs.
